Investors in Excellence has confirmed the availability of a Supply Chain Excellence Programme within the Investors in Excellence Toolkit in support of infrastructure & construction supply chain companies. IiE has supported the sector during the last 18 months to get to know its issues and needs to help the built environment excel in business and take advantage of future business through main contractor or supply chain activities.
Investors in Excellence has reaffirmed the need for developing excellence in the supply chain since attending the HS2 Midlands High Speed Supplier Seminar which described that extensive supply chain opportunities will be available in the years ahead.
“HS2 presents a great opportunity for businesses, big and small, to compete for HS2-related contracts.
By contributing their innovation, experience and delivery capability, they will help make this an exemplary project – one which maximises the value of HS2 to local and national economies, and allows the UK to compete internationally in state-of-theart engineering”. Sir David Higgins, Chairman HS2.
The HS2 supplier event was organised by CECA and the Built Environment Hub and chaired by Mark Wakeford, Chairman of the Built Environment Hub and Managing Director of Stepnell. The key note speaker was Robin Lapish, Supply Chain Manager HS2 Ltd who confirmed the vision of HS2 is to be a catalyst for growth across Britain and is set to give 1000s of supply chain opportunities from 2018 onwards. HS2 is committed to fair payment throughout the supply chain and is creating over 24,000 jobs including 2,000 apprenticeships. “Investing in skills will not be discretionary…deliverability will be key” declared Robin “Suppliers will need to align their businesses to HS2 values of safety, respect, integrity and excellence in leadership.” The Investors in Excellence Supply Chain Excellence Programme will ensure a focus on engagement with these values, enhancing performance and measuring results as well as focusing on the customer. It will be critical that any supplier business has a robust approach to delivering outcomes and performing efficiently, effectively, on time and on budget. Investors in Excellence can help with all of this. If you want to get ahead of the game contact Investors in Excellence to hear more.
Informative presentations were also given by Colin Harris, Investment Director for The Rail Supply Growth Fund and Richard Cowell, Assistant Director for Development at Birmingham City Council who both focused presentations on maximising the economic growth potential of HS2, including new jobs, homes and localised infrastructure investment.
