Certification Outline
The standard Investors in Excellence certification process has 3 stages. The stages hold for both Green Belt and Black belt certifications, the differentiator being in the greater complexity, detail and application required at a Black belt level. The three stages are designed to establish a candidate’s competence in:
• Six Sigma Concept understanding
• Six Sigma Analytical skills
• Six Sigma Project skills
• Six Sigma Process skills
• Six Sigma Change skills
• Six Sigma Problem Solving Skills
• Contribution to organisational development and growth
Stage 1 – Assessment of Project Contribution
Candidate is expected to submit details of completed projects for desktop review. This is typically done through storyboards and associated project documentation. As an indicator a Green Belt candidate would be expected to submit 1 completed DMAIC project whilst a Black belt candidate to submit at least 3 completed DMAIC projects.
Stage 2 – Written examination
Examinations can be either open or closed book. Green Belt examinations are structured to be short answer type question focusing on concepts and simple tools of DMAIC improvement projects. The Black belt examination is designed to test Sigma Analytical Skills and focuses on the use of Minitab against case study data.
Stage 3 – Interview
Candidate will be interviewed by the examiner. Interview tests the softer process, change and Six Sigma concept skills.
Certification Outputs
The overall outputs of the Six Sigma Certification service include:
Feedback: Each candidate will receive a written feedback report covering their performance across all the certification criteria.
Recognition: Successful candidates will receive framed certificate of achievement
Deployment Review: When sufficient candidates have been seen observations on the sample of candidates presented can be used to provide organisation / deployment level feedback.
