Recognised Investor in Excellence 'Blessed' by Brian's Mighty Presence!

Iconic TV and film personality Brian Blessed 'blew away' the clouds at Alumet’s recent 20th Anniversary celebrations.

An organisation firmly committed in investing in excellence, Alumet are a leading specialist construction contractor and were awarded the prestigious Investors in Excellence Standard in October 2011.

Ian Nield, chief executive at IiE and guest speaker at the celebrations commented “It has been a privilege to be invited here today to mark this great occasion. Alumet continuously demonstrate their commitment not only to excellence, but also to the community in which they work”.

The heaviest rainfall of the summer did not dampen their spirits and following a last minute decision to move the event indoors, the charity Eco-day was still a huge success. Over £1000 was raised on the day for Make-A-Wish Foundation UK. Alumet's staff hosted cake stalls, tombola, raffle and book stalls all raising money for this well deserved charity.

Brian Blessed also unveiled Alumet's new Schuco ERC50 retrofit facade and Southam's first electric vehicle charging point. He then spent time in Alumet's new Living Laboratory and on every one of the 30 market stalls before delivering his key note speech which included two shouts of 'Gordon's Alive' and a rousing rendition of Pavorotti's 'Nessan Dorma'.

A special surprise was bestowed upon Alumet CEO Gary Summers when Brian Blessed presented him with the Outstanding Contribution to West Midlands Construction Award. In an emotional speech Gary choked back the tears as he addressed the staff and guests "When I purchased the company 20 years ago with no premises and two container loads of aluminium sat on my front lawn, I would have never believed that I would be stood here in front of our 120 staff receiving this award" The Midlands Entrepreneur of the Year added "I would like to dedicate this award to the brilliant team here at Alumet for making all this possible."

Alumet's environmental and sustainability credentials have made them one of the leading specialist green construction contractors, they are now preparing for the forthcoming Green Deal with the launch of their Regenerate division focussing on renewable technologies and retrofit facade systems.
