New case study: Reaping the rewards of Lean excellence - Festival Housing

“Working with IiE and implementing a lean approach to improving performance has been an incredibly positive experience. We have already started to see significant improvements in key areas. Having tried a number of approaches to improvement in the past, the IiE lean approach has proved to be the best solution to our problems and we’ve now formulated a Continuous Improvement Strategy moulded around it.”

Lee Parkes, Head of Performance, Festival Housing

Festival Housing is a registered housing provider managing 9,000 homes in Worcestershire and Herefordshire. It employs 500 staff and has an annual turnover of £46 million.

Before engaging with Investors in Excellence the organisation had tried various methods to improve performance - none of which had achieved the desired results. Research commissioned by the group chief executive led to a formal commitment in December 2008 to adopt and achieve the Investors in Excellence Standard.

A successful assessment in August 2010 was used as a platform for the next stage of the improvement journey and further support from IiE in 2011 to enable the successful adoption of Lean approaches to address specific areas of underperformance.
