Congratulations to Bolton at Home for achieving the Investors in Excellence Standard

“Being an Investor in Excellence is an indicator to our customers, staff and partners of our on-going commitment to being the best organisation we can be.”

Bolton at Home is a registered charity providing social housing and is a landlord to over 21,000 tenants across Bolton's neighbourhoods. The organisation provides private sector renewal and regeneration services, repairs and maintenance as well as tenancy management and home improvement services.

Continually improving the way in which Bolton at Home delivers services for its customers is very important to the organisation and played a key factor in the recent successful transfer to status as a housing association from an Arms Length Management Organisation (ALMO) earlier this year.

Sarah Richards, Business Development Manager at Bolton at Home commented, “Becoming a new organisation provided a perfect opportunity to evaluate the organisation’s current position in its pursuit of excellence, to celebrate what had already been achieved as well as discover further areas for improvement. The Investors in Excellence Standard provided a perfect framework in which to do this.”

Mrs Richards continued “The support provided by ‘excellence’ has been invaluable to us, including the initial Investors in Excellence applicant workshop we attended, the signposting to other organisations who have achieved the Investors in Excellence Standard, and the ongoing support from our relationship manager whilst we prepared for assessment.

“We were also extremely impressed by the flexibility that ‘excellence’ has showed us and the professionalism of the assessor who conducted the site visit. All of our staff had positive feedback about how the assessor conducted the discussions.”

Following the recent certification, Ian Nield, Chief Executive of Investors in Excellence, said: “It is a fantastic achievement for Bolton at Home which has shown itself to be truly committed to continuous improvement.”

Assessment against the Investors in Excellence Standard highlighted the way Bolton at Home involves its customers in shaping services as well as creating innovative and unique working relationships with key partners.

Mrs Richards added “It has also highlighted new areas for improvement or confirmed areas we know we need to develop. An example is improvements to our information technology including access to information all in one system for all our staff. The Investors in Excellence Standard has provided a platform for us to take these forward through improvement actions led by our management team.”

Jon Lord, Chief Executive of Bolton at Home concluded “We’re always striving to improve our performance and this is great recognition for the work that everyone puts in to deliver our services. We see the recognition as an Investors in Excellence as a sign of a good start, rather than being fully where we want to be.  We’ll do our very best to get there and know the Standard will help us to achieve this.”
